We are delighted to welcome the Shalesbrook Morris Dancers to the Pub.
Shalesbrook Morris formed in 1977 in Forest Row near Ashdown Forest in East Sussex. They are named after the “Shales Brook” which runs through the village. Their costume reflects the colour of the forest in autumn and our foxy mascot.
The dances they perform are mainly from the Cotswold villages of Bampton, Adderbury, Ducklington, Fieldtown and Raglan. The dances are thought to be symbolic of rural tasks such as seed sowing and harvesting. The origins of Morris is uncertain but could date back to pre-Christian times and ancient fertility rites.
Timing 7.30 for 8pm sit down
Five years ago we welcomed Andrew and Jane to The Cat for our first season of wine dinners. We have stocked their wines since. Some of you will know their GSM and Riesling wines.
Hilary their daughter will be in the UK and we will have the pleasure of showing some different ones other than those that we currently stock. Who knows, if you really love them they may become a more permanent feature of our wine list.
